Mosaics Made from Cloth Take Months, I Guess

I'm still trying, Alfonso. I re-made this belt recently, and it took a really long time (two months, methinks). I couldn't even remember when I got the belt but I'm pretty sure it was thrifted, possibly in Lansing, Michigan. The cloth (a canvas-y textile) holding the buckles together in a loop had frayed and could no longer hold them, so I cut the gray fabric away and made a new loop for the buckles from an old tank top. I decided to decorate the outside of the belt with different shapes, using bits of cloth that would otherwise be useless, and sew them on by hand (I am often partial to doing things the slowest possible way). As per usual, sometimes I disliked the way it looked and had to keep making adjustments and re-balancing the composition (odd to have a long, linear, horizontal composition but there you go.) I included thread that was just hanging loose in piles and was, therefore, vexing. To upcycle, you must endure holding onto the messy stuff sometimes so you can use it. I wonder if you had giant, messy piles of lamp parts and decorative ephemera tucked away in unseen corners when you took a picture to share your art with friends and family. I'm guessing yep. Ok, here are the pictures. I've worn it and washed it several times now; the life of many discarded items continues as I continue to use it. I can kind of picture you wearing it in the afterlife.
