I began my upcycling journey many years ago, but as I continue my journey, I draw inspiration from my late friend Alfonso who was an upcycling supergenius/artist. If you would like to learn more about him, check out my tribute to him in Sweet Lit:

A bonus of working in the realm of upcycling is that AI can't imitate what you are doing. The value is in saving money and resources and doing things by hand.

Yesterday I decided that I would try to make an attractive storage box out of a cardboard box, paper grocery bags, and used wrapping paper pieces collaged onto the sides and top.

As it was in progress, I wasn't so sure I liked it. However, it kept getting spiffier and spiffier and now I love it. It is keeping stuff that used to be in a clutter pile much more organized. Eventually I plan to layer some mod podge over it as a varnish and maybe make a button closure for the lid.

This is a photo of a box I decorated with used paper products to have an attractive storage box for my home. It was first layered with brown paper bags and then vertical strips of old wrapping paper in peach, green, pink, and brown. This my first example of an upcycled project.
